Le Manneken Pis, monument symbolique de la ville de Bruxelles, a été recouvert d’un linceul ensanglanté.
Aux pieds de l’enfant statue, longue de plusieurs mètres, a été accrochée la liste des enfants tués par les bombardements Israéliens à Gaza depuis le 7 Octobre.
Plus de 11 078 personnes ont été tuées par les bombardements israéliens à Gaza depuis le 7 Octobre 2023, 4506 sont des enfants selon le Ministère de la santé du Hamas Palestinien.[1] Depuis trois semaines, les frappes de l’armée Israélienne visent les hôpitaux, les écoles, les camps de réfugiés, et des mineurs sont tués et lourdement blessés par centaine chaque jour. A titre d’exemple, le 5 novembre, l’hôpital Pédiatrique de la ville de Gaza et plus particulièrement le service d’oncologie pédiatrique de l’ONG The PCRF ont été bombardés[2]. L’école appartenant à l’Office de secours et de travaux des Nations-Unies pour les réfugiés de Palestine (UNRWA) a été détruite[3]. Des parents écrivent leur nom au feutre sur le corps de leurs enfants vivants, afin de pouvoir reconnaitre leurs cadavres si les bombardements qui les assassinent les rendent méconnaissables.[4] L’armée Israélienne impose également un siège à la bande de Gaza, ne laissant plus entrer la moindre ressource sur le territoire. L’eau, la nourriture, le fuel, les sacs mortuaires, le matériel de soin, se font de plus en plus rares, l’électricité et internet sont presque tout à fait coupés, les hôpitaux ne fonctionnent plus. 2 millions de gazaouis sont en train de mourir de faim, de soif, de maladies directement imputables au siège inhumain imposé par Israël[5], en plus des bombardements ininterrompus.L’UNICEF compte « 337 000 enfants à risque d’émaciation et plus de 6 800 souffrent de malnutrition aiguë sévère. »[6] Nombres d’universitaires, associations civiles et praticien.nes du droit international, pour certain.es spécialistes de l’Holocauste et des études du génocide, ont alertés la communuauté international de l’imminence d’un génocide contre la population palestienne à Gaza. [7]
Alors que nous rentrons dans la sixième semaine de bombardements intensifs, Israël continue de jouir d’une impunité internationale, malgré ses multiples violations du droit humanitaire et international. Israël instaure un climat d’insécurité généralisée sur l’ensemble du territoire de Gaza, et ne laisse aucune issue aux millions de civils.
Le 7 novembre, le premier ministre israélien Benjamin Netanyahu a réitéré son refus de mettre en place un cessez-le-feu[8] et a réaffirmé sa politique de punition collective. Le 18 Octobre, les États Unis avaient utilisé leur droit de véto pour bloquer une résolution votée à la grande majorité par les états membres des Nations Unies, pour une "pause humanitaire".
Le secrétaire général de l’ONU Antonio Guterres a déclaré que la bande de Gaza est devenue « un cimetière pour les enfants » et a appelé à un cessez-le-feu immédiat.
En tant que citoyen.n.es de l’UE, nous exhortons nos dirigeant.e.s à suivre son exemple en reconnaissant qu’Israël viole les lois humanitaires et internationales.
Nous dénonçons la passivité du Conseil de l’Europe et demandons un cessez-le-feu immédiat.
Nous exigeons les mesures nécessaires à la fin de ce massacre insoutenable, dont l’Union Européenne est complice, non seulement depuis le 7 octobre, mais depuis 75 ans.
Nous réclamons des sanctions immédiates à l’encontre de l’État d’Israël et un soutien humanitaire et inconditionnel à Gaza, se traduisant sur le terrain par la fin immédiate des opérations militaires israéliennes (aériennes, terrestres et maritimes) ainsi que par la libération des prisonniers politiques et des otages détenus par Israël en échange des otages israéliens.

On Sunday afternoon, November 12, a group of citizens carried out a civil disobedience action in support of Palestine in the heart of the capital.
The Manneken Pis, a symbolic monument in Brussels, was covered in a bloody shroud. At the feet of the child statue, several meters long, hung the list of children killed by Israeli bombardment in Gaza since October 7.
More than 11,078 people have been killed by Israeli bombardment in Gaza since October 7, 2023, 4,506 of them children, according to the Palestinian Hamas Ministry of Health[1]. For the past three weeks, Israeli army strikes have targeted hospitals, schools and refugee camps, with hundreds of minors killed and severely injured every day. On November 5, for example, the Gaza City paediatric hospital, and more specifically the paediatric oncology department of the NGO The PCRF, was bombed[2]. The school belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) was destroyed[3]. Parents write their names in felt-tip pen on the bodies of their living children, so that they can recognize their corpses if the bombardments that kill them render them unrecognizable[4].
The Israeli army is also imposing a siege on the Gaza Strip, no longer allowing the slightest resource into the territory. Water, food, fuel, body bags and medical supplies are becoming increasingly scarce, electricity and the Internet are almost completely cut off, and hospitals are no longer functioning. 2 million Gazans are dying of hunger, thirst and disease as a direct result of the inhuman siege imposed by Israel[5], in addition to the relentless bombardments. UNICEF counts « 337,000 children at risk of wasting and over 6,800 suffering from severe acute malnutrition »[6]. Many academics, civil associations and practitioners of international law, some of them Holocaust specialists and genocide studies, have alerted the international community to the imminence of genocide against the Palestinian population in Gaza. [7]
As we enter the sixth week of intensive bombardment, Israel continues to enjoy international impunity, despite its multiple violations of humanitarian and international law. Israel is creating a climate of generalized insecurity throughout Gaza, leaving millions of civilians nowhere to turn.
On November 7, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his refusal to implement a ceasefire[8] and reaffirmed his policy of collective punishment. On October 18, the United States used its veto power to block a resolution passed by a large majority of UN member states calling for a « humanitarian pause ».
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has declared that the Gaza Strip has become « a cemetery for children » and called for an immediate ceasefire.
As citizens of the EU, we urge our leaders to follow his example by recognizing that Israel is violating humanitarian and international law. We denounce the passivity of the Council of Europe and call for an immediate ceasefire. We demand the necessary measures to put an end to this unbearable massacre, in which the European Union has been complicit, not only since October 7, but for 75 years. We demand immediate sanctions against the State of Israel and unconditional humanitarian support for Gaza, including an immediate end to Israeli military operations (air, land and sea) and the release of political prisoners and hostages held by Israel in exchange for Israeli hostages.

Het Manneken Pis, een symbolisch monument in Brussel, was bedekt met een bloederige lijkwade. Aan de voeten van het meterslange kinderbeeldje hing de lijst van kinderen die sinds 7 oktober zijn gedood door Israëlische bombardementen in Gaza.

Tal van academici, burgerverenigingen en beoefenaars van het internationaal recht, sommigen van hen specialisten in de Holocaust en genocidestudies, hebben de internationale gemeenschap gewaarschuwd voor de dreigende genocide op de Palestijnse bevolking in Gaza. Terwijl we de zesde week van intensieve bombardementen ingaan, blijft Israël internationale straffeloosheid genieten, ondanks zijn vele schendingen van humanitaire en internationale wetten. Op 18 oktober gebruikten de Verenigde Staten hun veto om een resolutie te blokkeren die door een grote meerderheid van de VN-lidstaten was aangenomen en waarin werd opgeroepen tot een « humanitaire pauze ».
Secretaris-generaal van de VN Antonio Guterres heeft verklaard dat de Gazastrook « een kerkhof voor kinderen » is geworden en heeft opgeroepen tot een onmiddellijk staakt-het-vuren.
Als EU-burgers dringen wij er bij onze leiders op aan om zijn voorbeeld te volgen door te erkennen dat Israël humanitair en internationaal recht schendt. Wij veroordelen de passiviteit van de Raad van Europa en roepen op tot een onmiddellijk staakt-het-vuren. We eisen de nodige maatregelen om een einde te maken aan dit ondraaglijke bloedbad, waaraan de Europese Unie medeplichtig is, niet alleen sinds 7 oktober, maar al 75 jaar lang. Wij eisen onmiddellijke sancties tegen de staat Israël en onvoorwaardelijke humanitaire steun voor Gaza, met onmiddellijke stopzetting van de Israëlische militaire operaties (lucht, land en zee) en de vrijlating van politieke gevangenen en gijzelaars die door Israël worden vastgehouden in ruil voor Israëlische gijzelaars.
